A wolf pack in north eastern Washington has been sentenced to death this week.
So sad.

The newly established Makira Natural Park is now Madagascar’s largest protected area. The hope is that the park will protect hundreds of unique species that live in the northeastern part of the island nation.Makira Natural Park now represents the center of biodiversity conservation for the nation.

Autumn in the Bog
Thought it’s technically still summer, autumn is a bit early this year, at least for some of the plants starting to bloom. The pitchers plants are well past bloom, but still beautiful.

Extinct Birds: Ivory-billed Woodpecker
With a length of 51 cm (20 in) and a wingspan of 76 cm (30 in), the Ivory-billed Woodpecker (Campephilus principalis) is – or was – one of the largest woodpeckers on Earth (and, might we add, one of the most photogenic!). The species is known to have mated for life – which might explain why there are several photographs of Ivory-billed Woodpeckers in pairs.
